You see, Google or any browser you’re using wants to constantly improve the user experience. They need to trust that when the browser directs you to any website address, it is what you’re looking for. One of the factors that improve your rating and placement in the search engine results page (SERP). If Google even suspects that the traffic is fake, your site could easily be slapped (ranked down very low in the SERP). Google has developed algorhythems that are able to detect unnatural serges in traffic.
What they want to see is organic results. That is, people typing keyword subjects in the browser’s search field and finding your site. When a person types in their query and finds the answer in your website, this makes the customer (end user) happy and makes Google look good.
Organic results take time. But anyone can attract traffic by consistently doing the right things.
Regular Blogging Schedule
Create your blogs on a regular schedule. You don’t have to blog every day, especially if you have a family and full time job. You may just blog once a week. This is still fine — as long as it is regular. Visitors will become regular, when they know your schedule. They can only know your schedule if you’re regular
Invite comments and answer them
Make sure you invite their comments, Comments are good for the SEO of your site, Make sure you answer every comment you approve. This creates what is viewed as engagement. It shows visitors that you are a real person and they can always expect you to answer them when they have questions and comments. This increases the ranking of you site in the SERP as it shows your content is trustable.
Use Keywords that are being searched for
You don’t have to be an SEO expert, but you should give some attention to the keywords you use. Using a good keyword search tool will help with this. At first, try to rank for the low popularity keywords. As your traffic increases, you’ll be able to compete for the higher traffic keywords.
I like “Jaaxxy” as a keywords tool because, it tells me how much competition I will have, what my chances are of hitting page one in the SERP and how much traffic I can expect if I do. This is the kind of tool I need, because, I want to spend most of my time writing good content and interacting with the readers. Not searching for keywords.
Monitor your Site
You also need way to monitor the traffic to your website. To get to where you want to be, you need to know exactly where you are. An excellent free tool with which you can monitor the traffic to your site is Google Analytics. This tool even allows you to see what town or city your visitors are from. It is able to trace them from all over the world.
By accomplishing these things with your site, you not only will be attracting free organic traffic, but you will be optimizing your site for the search engines.
